Another life lost on Tipperary’s roads.

The single vehicle crash happened at 20 past 1 on the Clonmel to Fethard road a few kilometres from the town near the Halfway House.

The front seat passenger of the car, a 28 year old man, was fatally injured when the vehicle he was travelling in hit a ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The 20 year old male driver of the car was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

As a result of the crash the Clonmel – Lisronagh road is closed between Rathronan Cross and Monroe with diversions in place. It's likely to be lunchtime before the road re-opens.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who was in the area at the time to contact them on 052 6177640.

This latest crash is the 6th fatality on the roads of Tipperary in 2014.

Less than three months into the year the death toll is already half that for the whole of last year.
