Agriculture Minister under fire from North Tipp Councillor

A North Tipperary Councillor has accused the Agriculture Minister of bias against vulnerable farmers.

Councillor John Carroll made the claims, after Minister Simon Coveney, was forced to row back on proposed cuts to the Disadvantaged Areas scheme.

Brussels has put a hold to the Ministers proposals, which have included doubling minimum stocking rates and excluding land over 80 kilometres away from the farmers holding.

Councillor Carroll says that by his actions, Minister Coveney looks to be intent on protecting large farmers, at the expense of smaller ones.
