Call for Government to act on Tipperary farming crisis

A Tipperary County Councillor is urging the Government and Minister for Agriculture to waste no time approving the much needed low-cost interest loans to farmers.

Fodder and grass shortages caused by the recent warm weather are putting a strain on animals, forcing farmers to eat into their winter feedstock.

Councillor John Carroll feels unless action is taken, the negative impact will be passed on to local towns and villages already experiencing greatly reduced incomes of late.

The Nenagh based Councillor is concerned that the Government’s intention to release the loans in the fourth quarter will be too late.
