Over 600 people being treated on hospital trolleys today

Once again hospitals serving the Premier County are badly hit.

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation the worst affected is University Hospital Limerick where 51 patients are waiting for a bed.

It’s followed by Cork University Hospital where 45 people are on trolleys.

Overcrowding is also a problem at South Tipp General – the Clonmel hospital has 29 patients being treated on trolleys around the Emergency Department or in overflow areas of wards.

In all there are 601 people without a bed at hospitals across the country.
