Sports club for children with a disability for Thurles

A meeting is taking place in Thurles this evening aimed at starting a sports club for children with disability.

The aim of the meeting – which is also being billed as a ‘Come & Try It’ session – is to ascertain interest in the setting up of a weekly sports club for children with a physical disability aged 4-18 years and to introduce the children to some of the sports which are played by members of the Irish Wheelchair Association.

As well as sports enthusiasts, the club will also be looking for volunteers to take part.

Paul Ryan from the Irish Wheelchair Association says it’s important that children with disability are afforded the same opportunities in Sport as able bodied children

The meeting is taking place at the Sports Hall of the Presentation in Thurles between 6.30 and 8.30 tonight.
