Tippo International gets rebuild approval

The rebuild of a long established North Tipperary business has been officially given the green light.

Tippo International near Nenagh was gutted by fire last year but the county council has now granted planning permission for a new premises to be constructed on site.

The family run Tipperary factory on the Templemore Road which manufactures furniture was almost completely destroyed last October when a fire ripped through the building.

It had been in operation since 1990 and employed nearly 80 people.

At the time the company’s managing director Paddy Martin vowed to rebuild and plans were submitted with Tipperary County Council to demolish the fire damaged shell and rebuild.

Clearing of the site has been taking place in recent weeks and now the council has given the green light for the construction of a replacement factory along with offices and a showroom with works expected to get underway promptly
