A Tipperary TD says the public are being ransacked by the current insurance regime

A Tipperary TD says the public are being ransacked by the current insurance regime.

Deputy Michael Lowry told a sitting of the Dáil that sweeping reforms were urgently needed within the insurance industry.

The North Tipp TD went on to say that community volunteers were disheartened with the insurmountable task of fundraising to meet insurance costs.

Mr Lowry said consumers were prisoners in a captive market.
