The news of the death of Tipperary general election independent candidate Marese Skehan has come as a huge shock to everyone in the Thurles area.
No details of her passing have been released at this time.
Ms Skehan was due to attend an open meeting with election candidates in the Anner Hotel in Thurles this evening. That meeting has since been cancelled.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
