Tributes continue to pour in for the late Pauline Coonan.

She has been described as a hard worker during her time on North Tipperary County while her efforts in the local community have come in for significant praise.

Pauline Coonan spent 15 years as a Fine Gael representative on North Tipperary County Council.

Her work in the background for many charity groups and the local community in Templemore has also come in for particular praise.

She was co-opted onto the local authority in 1999 when her husband Noel was elected to the Seanad.

Pauline retained her seat on the County Council in 2004 when she topped the poll in the Templemore electoral area while also being elected to Templemore Town Council.

She was re-elected in the 2009 local elections – however she didn't contest the 2014 elections due to her battle with cancer.

Councillor Ger Darcy says during her time on the local authority Pauline was known as a hard worker who wouldn't shy away from a battle.

Pauline was also very involved with the Chernobyl Children's Project.

Secretary of Chernobyl Lifeline Roscrea Andrew Walsh says Pauline put in a huge amount of unseen work on their behalf.

Fianna Fail representative John Hogan described Pauline as a formidable foe in the Council chamber – but someone who forgot an argument once the meeting was over.
