Male pedestrian killed in Carrick crash

The incident happened shortly before 3 o'clock this afternoon on the main N24 near Davin Park.

The collision, which involved a truck and a male pedestrian, happened on the main road into Carrick on Suir near the fire station.

Emergency services, including Gardaí, the fire brigade and ambulance crews are at the scene.

The road is completely blocked.

Gardaí have put diversions in place…..heavy good vehicles are being asked to turn off in Kilsheelan and go down the back road to Carrick but do not come into the town…instead they are being directed down to Fiddown Bridge and then they will come back onto the Waterford road.

Cars are being told to veer off right in Kilsheelan and follow the diversion route in place.

The N24 in Carrick on Suir is expected to remain closed for a number of hours….drivers are being asked to avoid the area if possible.
