Plastic disposal service for Tipperary farmers.

Farmers across Tipperary will be able to dispose of plastics over the coming weeks.

Nearly 20 bring centres will be in place on different days at locations across the county.

Farmers will be able to avail of the Irish Farm Film Producer Group's plastics collection service at various locations around the county from today.

IFFPG is Ireland's only farm plastic recycling compliance scheme and is responsible for around 25,000 tonnes of material annually.

The Scheme is “not for profit” and funded through a levy that is charged on all silage plastic that members place on the market, as well as a weight based collection fee charged to farmers.

The collections begin in the south of the county today at Clonmel Mart, tomorrow it's Tipperary Raceway near Rosegreen, on Wednesday the scheme moves to Gleesons Quarries at Laffansbridge.

Farmers in the Gortnahoe area can dispose of plastic at Glanbia, Fennor on Thursday while Gleeson Precast is the venue for Friday next.

Other areas in South Tipp will have collection over the coming weeks including Golden, Carrick on Suir, Gouldscross, Tipp Town, Donohill, Mullinahone and Cahir.

Collections move to North Tipp from May 11th starting at Newport Mart and moving on to Borrisokane, Nenagh, Templemore, Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Roscrea and Drombane.
