Low attendance at JPC meeting not due to lack of interest

This follows recent criticism of the poor turnout at their inaugural meeting.

Just 6 of the 15 members of Tipperary County Council appointed to the JPC attended the gathering while 2 of Tipp's 5 Oireachtas members were there.

At the time Sinn Fein committee member David Doran expressed his disappointment at the turnout.

However Fianna Fail's Jackie Cahill says the low attendance was not due to a lack of interest.
