The country's main nursing union has warned any initiative to resolve overcrowding at South Tipp General must put patient care as a priority.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation was responding to claims that a patient hotel is to be set up on the grounds of the Clonmel hospital.
The move, which was announced last week, is comprised of a 30 bed facility which comes fully staffed….the HSE says it is also set to hire 20 new workers for South Tipp General.
General Secretary Liam Doran says there has to be a two-pronged approach to solving the crisis at the hospital.
