Illegal dumping is people’s responsibility says Ambrose

The comments from Fianna Fáil's Siobhán Ambrose follow news this week that all households in the county will be obliged to account for how they dispose of their rubbish from the middle of next year.

By July of 2016 all civic amenity sites in Tipperary will be able to weigh any waste being disposed of an provide a receipt to customers.

This will allow the county council to investigate any individual who account for how they are disposing of waste if not using a recognised collection company.

Councillor Ambrose says people need to face up to their responsibilities.

She said: 'There's no point blaming councils or governments or anybody else. The buck stops at every individual. Dumping is not an acceptable behaviour and if you're caught there will be consequences.”

“We cannot become a nanny state, people have responsibility.”
