HSE to publish terms of reference in abortion case

The Health Service Executive says it will publish the terms of reference of an investigation into the sequence of events surrounding the case of a young woman who was refused an abortion under the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act later today.

The HSE ordered the report on Monday, which it expects to be completed by the end of September.

It says the report will not seek to review the decision taken by the clinicians involved.

The woman at the centre of the case, who claims she was raped before coming to Ireland, had her baby delivered by caesarean section as it was deemed too late in her pregnancy for a termination to be carried out.
