€1.2 million worth of drugs seized in Tipp

Tipperary Gardaí have seized 1.2 million euro worth of drugs in the last 4 days.

As part of Operation Overwatch, a total of 26 locations were searched across the county since Sunday.

So far, nine people have been arrested

Senior Gardaí in Tipperary, along with help from the national drug unit, Organised Crime Bureau and Garda Dog Unit took part in a number of planned searches across the county in recent days.

The largest seizure was in Hollyford in West Tipp where 1.1 million euro worth of controlled drugs were found in a sophisticated cannabis grow house …two men in their 40's, are currently being held at Thurles and Templemore Garda Stations in connection with the find.

On Sunday, a cannabis grow house was located in Ballykisteen, Tipp Town with 7 thousand euro worth of drugs seized…one man was arrested and charged.

Another grow house was raided in Nenagh where 20 thousand euro worth of cannabis was found…One male has been arrested, charged and is currently before the courts

In addition to the drug seizures, total of 34 Penal Warrants and 14 Bench Warrants were executed with people due before the courts.

Chief Superindent of the Tipperary Garda Division, Catherine Keogh, who's heading up Operation Overwatch says the success of the searches will have a significant impact in the distribution of controlled drugs and the dismantling of drug related activity across the county.
